It’s hard to believe by I have been a mother for 365 days, and as cheesy as it may sound– they have been the best days of my life. Sure, there have been hard moments. There have been times when I had to make hard choices, moments, where I’ve fallen short, and opportunities I’ve had to turn down. But in the midst of lows, there have been many many highs. I’ve never known love like the one I’ve experienced over the last year.

Skincare wasn’t always so important to me. I can’t tell you how many times I was “too tired” to cleanse my face, or fell asleep with a full face of make-up after a night out in college. As I got older, I got a little better! I’d cleanse my face in the shower and add a little moisturizer when I got out, but that was about it.

But over the past four years or so, I made a much more concerted effort to take much better care of my skin.

I woke up that Wednesday not feeling quite like myself. I skipped out on Bible Study (which I usually try really hard not to do) and spent time resting alone until I had to run an errand + go to my hair appointment. Around mid-day, I began feeling cramps but I just powered through. My final stop was the grocery store, but walking around that old mill felt like torture, so I cut the trip short and headed home.

I’ve had my eye on today ever since I circled + starred it back in February. Because back then, my doctor told me September 27th, 2021 was the date I could expect(ish) my baby to arrive, and I’d been looking forward to it ever since. But Teagan had other plans and made his grand entrance on September 23rd. The extra 4 days with him have been tough, but they’ve been pure magic.

Crazy to think my baby boy will be here literally at any moment. I know I’ve said it before, but my pregnancy has seriously flown by and I just cannot believe I’m this close to the finish line. It’s hard to believe that this Friday I turn 30 years old. It’s funny because I’ve been telling myself for like two years now that I’m 30 so there won’t be such a sticker shock, but now that it’s actually here I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me feel some type of way. And not because there’s anything wrong with 30– in fact it’s such a blessing to see another year let alone another decade– but I just remember a time when 30 felt so…old!

This past Thursday, we had my 20-week check in with my OB where we got the chance to see nearly all of baby’s body parts. At my last sonogram he was just a little bean and honestly still looked like a little alien. But during this one, he looked like an actual (mini) human being. We got to see his little feet, his head + brain, his tummy, and we even saw his heart beat.

It’s hard to believe that this past January Shades of Pinck turned SEVEN years old. Feels like just yesterday I was stuck at home, with cabin fever during a snowstorm, when I mustered up the courage to finally start a blog. But Shades of Pinck, LLC won’t turn two until later this fall. That’s because it took me a really long time to not only value my content, and what I provided to companies, but also a long time to fully grasp the concept of what a non-traditional business could look like.
